Ramyar Nawpirdani
Iraqi authority has been putting pressure and obstacle to the Ezdi democratic movement in southern Kurdistan. Some armed man belonged to the Iraqi national security, raided headquarter of central Ezdi movement committee in Shangal town, which is populated by majority Ezdi people. The armed man warned them to close there headquarter in 24 hour.
In a contact with Said Hassan member of Ezdi democratic movement in Shangal, He said that we visited the Mayer of the city, Representative of Kurdistan in Shangal and the head of intelligent and security service Ali Bandi Regarding Raid of our head quarter.
We told them that we are legal organisation, we didn’t do any thing beyond the law, and we are democratic movement of Ezdi people.
Hassan Said, Ali Bandi the head of security in the region said that they will investigate incident closely. He added that the acts and attitude of Iraqi government is to pressure and put obstacle to Democratic Ezdi Movement. There aim is to debilitate the people and keep them away from our organisation.
At the moment every one is looking for solutions and gathered together to solve the problems in Kurdistan region and Iraq. This kind of attitude of Iraqi police does not serve the people of Shangal region and it will be bad reputation to the Iraqi government. This kind of acts is unacceptable in democratic society. We want brotherhood and coexistence among our people in south Kurdistan and a democratic authority to serve our national interest.
Mr Said stated that they strongly condemn and criticise this act. Ezdi people have been attacked by Al-Qaida militants and Islamic groups in the past years, due there religious beliefs. Ezdi is one of the oldest religions in the world, dates back to Zoroastrian ancient religion and should be safeguarded.
What I would like say is that Iraqi authorities as well as the Kurdish regional government should take strong steps to insure that every one should be treated equally regardless of their religious views and cultural practices. And every one should be saved and protected against any discriminative policies.
