Turkish military operations expanding in Kurdistan

helicopterNORTH KURDISTAN, — Although the public is waiting for concrete steps from the government until June 15 towards the solution of the Kurdish problem, military operations have expanded to many areas in the region.

While operations continue at Kato Mountain of Sirnak and at the rural areas of Dicle/Diyarbakir, it is reported that special units have been sent to Gabar Mountain and civilian soldiers are seen in Dicle’s villages.

A large scale operation, supported by special units of follow-up brigades from Bolu and Kayseri as well as soldiers under Beytüssebap Regimental Commandry, was launched yesterday at Kato Mountain within the borders of Beytüssebap/Sırnak. According to information obtained from local sources, a large-scale operation was launched in the region after an exploration survey of unmanned planes Herons.

INTENSE MILITARY SHIPMENT TO GABAR

Following the operation at Kato Mountain, an intense military shipment has begun to Gabar Mountain by late midnight hours. It has been reported that a large number of civilian vehicles carried soldiers and ammunition to the direction of Gabar Mountain.

On the other side, the air-supported operation at the rural areas of Tirkan region of Dicle/Diyarbakir continues expanding. While civilian-dressed special units are sent to the operation area with civilian vehicles, it has been recorded that many armoured vehicles were also sent to the region of operation. The majority of the shipments, made with Signal Jammer, are reportedly taken to the Akviran village area, 40 kilometres away from Diyarbakir.

PLAIN-CLOTHES SOLDIERS LAID AN AMBUSH

Local sources report that plain-clothes soldiers have laid an ambush close to the villages in the region. While reportedly a large numbers of special units have been sent to the region to join the operation centred in Taşağıl (Xalçek) and Kırkpınar (Dılbı) hamlets, some cultivated lands of villagers have been damaged due to the operation
