Kurdish political prisoner assaulted

zindaniSINE, East Kurdistan, — Kurdish political prisoner Nemet Ishaqi held in Sine detention was assaulted by the prison officials and got his head and hands broken, Campaign for Defence of Political Prisoners reported.

Prison officials of Sine Detention assaulted Nemet Ishaqi kicking him on the head and hitting with baton left him anguishing on the ground, instead of taking his to hospital.

Nemet Ishaqi was arrested on 4th December 2009 by Intelligent Units in the city of Kamyaran in East of Kurdistan. He was taken to revolutionary court in the district of Sine wherein he was tried.

Mr Ishaqi was charged with working with one of the Kurdish political parties and sentenced to 12 years of imprisonments. In revision court his charge was commuted to 9 years.

It should be noted that the political prisoners held in Sine Detention do suffer from serious heath conditions and do not receive medical care they need.

For example Enwer Husen-Penaye is one of those who suffer from bleeding and lung infection. Although the doctor of the prison’s clinic has reported his critical condition and urged for his transferring to hospital, the prison’s officials have failed to meet this requirement.
