TURKEY, — Actions of civil disobedience and Democratic Solution Tents, which were set up by Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) and City Councils at Turkey’s various squares, are in progress. A new act of disobedience was started and a tent was put up in Aksaray/Istanbul, ANF reported.
The civil disobedience action in Aksaray/Istanbul was started around the Democratic Solution Tent with celebrations and participation of hundreds. The tent which was put up after the ones in Karayolları, Bagcılar, Taksim and Bakırköy to remain open for one week was visited by BDP Istanbul Independent Candidates Sebahat Tuncel and Mustafa Avcı.
Speaking at the action supported by BDP, EDP, SDP, ESP and many organizations as well as the City Council, Tuncel drew attention to the electoral threshold and injustices about taking part in the elections.
Tuncel, expressing the justification of the tents and civil disobedience acts as Turkey’s democratization, said the followings; “Today we are calling the election but there is a threshold enforcement as well as the monetary threshold. Till today we have invested about 8 thousand TL. In other words, they say that the poor can not be MPs. This situation is even more difficult for women because women are the poorest of the poor. These actions of us have clear objectives and demands; education in mother-tongue, abolition of the electoral threshold, release of political prisoners and stoppage of the operations. If the AKP is sincere and asking for peace, dialogues with Ocalan should be turned into negotiations which will build a more democratic Turkey”. The action was also joined by BDP Party Council member Samil Altan and Sami Tan from TZP Kurdi’ as well as representatives of many local associations.
