SYRIA, — According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Zaheda Rashkilo from the Kurdish Future Movement in Syria has started a hunger strike in solidarity with the hunger strike being held by prisoners of conscience in the Adra central prison in Damascus. She is demanding that the authoritarian regime in Syria stops political arrests. She has announced an indefinite hunger strike starting from today.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights declare that the time has come to lift the state of emergency and martial law, and to bring into effect constitutional, inclusive and democratic amendments and reforms to ensure a peaceful transfer of power; freedom to form political parties; freedom of expression in media and publishing; improving the living conditions of citizens; combating corruption and nepotism; to close the file of political prisoners and prisoners of conscience, and to release those in detention.
