Tanks deployed to Turkish-Iraqi border

e.turkSILOPI, — Turkish tanks were deployed to military bases along the Turkish-Iraqi border in Silopi, a district of Sirnak province, report said today.

Tanks were transferred from Cizre by heavy transport vehicles with a huge military convoy accompanied by jammers which are used against road side bombs.

The new deployment came as Turkish army intensified its operations against Kurdish guerrillas.

Last week at least three Kurdish guerrillas were killed in North Kurdistan as a result of Turkish military operations.

Kurdish guerrillas are in position of ceasefire which was declared by the PKK last August. But Turkish army continues its bombardment of suspected guerrilla positions and military operations against the Kurdish guerrillas.

Nearly 30 Kurdish guerrillas were killed as a result of Turkish military operations since August.
