TURKEY, — At least 13 Kurdish activists have been arrested Hakkari and İzmir at house raids by special operation teams, report said on Wednesday.
A number of police, gendarme and special operation teams carried out raids on many Kurdish houses yesterday towards morning in Altınsu (Şapatan) Village, Meydan, Moda, Karşıyaka and Beşevler neighborhoods of Şemdinli. While the houses were searched at the raids, Şemdinli Municipality staffs İdris Sakin and Yunus Özkoyuncu, Erdem Akti, Ubeydullah Tekin and Abdulgaffur Gelici were detained and taken to Police Station after medical examinations in Şemdinli State Hospital.
The detentions were reported to be resulting from the previous acts and activities in the province. Separately, 5 children ranging from 15 and 17 years were detained yesterday at raids on houses and workplaces in the province.
While the reason of the detentions is not explained, the names of some detainees are as follows; “Vefa Kavasu, Yahya Yavuz, Ersin Ekmekçi, Sinan Ekmekçi, Barış duman, Azad Koldaş, A. Vahap Aydemir and Halil Candemir.”
The police are reported to have a name list and continue with the operation.
