Employment and health rights denied to Kurds in Syria

MAFSYRIA, — According to Human Rights Organization in Syria – MAF, the teacher Wajiha Hamada who works in the nursery in Terbeispier town has been surprised to find that her school managers have suspended her because there is a security report making allegations about her. At this time, the authorities are making excuses to remove Kurdish teachers from their jobs.

The State-owned hospital al-Mwasat in Damascus has refused to treat Kora Mohammed Haji, born 1949, under the pretext that she dies not have Syrian nationality. Her family has been in Syria for generations. She has a crippling kidney disease and is diabetic.

Citizens have been deprived of their citizenship and education, they have been prevented from working, from working on their fields, denied the right to health care, and all these restrictions are a violation of the basic rights of human beings under international covenants and instruments, and the Syrian Constitution.

MAF calls upon the parties concerned and especially the Ministers of Education and Health, to intervene immediately, to provide a grass-roots solution for these people.
