KURDISTAN, — Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) declared its seventh unilateral ceasefire on 13th August for a month and then extended it to 31st October. But the Turkish Army took the ceasefire as the sign of Kurdish weaknesses and escalated its military operations with the hope of total annihilation of Kurdish resistance movement.
As the result of Turkish hunger for war and bloodshed, at least 29 Kurdish guerrillas were killed and 900 Kurdish activists were arrested in Turkey since the declaration of ceasefire on 13 August.
According to ANF’s statistics Turkish Army conducted at least 80 military operations against Kurdish guerrillas since 13 August. Twenty-nine Kurdish guerrillas were killed as a result of these operations.
Turkish Army also launched 125 artillery attacks against guerrilla positions in the Defence Regions of Medya, Qendil Mountains. Turkish helicopters bombarded guerrilla positions for four times.

Eighty-six forest fires broke out during this period.
Turkish police also detained at least 886 Kurdish activists since August. This statistic is only of what ANF reported in this time period. The real toll is thought to be much higher.
The demands of Kurdish organizations were continuously denied by the Turkish state. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan ruled out any constitutional amendments that will allow education in mother language.
At least 1500 Kurdish politicians who were detained after municipal elections in 2009 remained in prison despite growing pressure from the Kurdish organizations.
It should be noted that after 1954, apart from the Korean War in1949-52 and the invasion of Cyprus in 1974, the Turkish Army operations have continued to be exclusively against the Kurds.
Turkish crimes against Kurdish people have gone beyond imagination. In the footage below Turkish soldiers were filmed while dragging on the ground and kicking the bodies of two Kurdish guerrillas who had lost their life in fighting.
