ISTANBUL, Turkey, — The General Secretary of NATO Anders Fogh Rasmussen visited Turkey and met with Turkish officials for talks on Cyprus and NATO’s new strategy
In regard to Kurdish issue Mr. Rasmussen said there is no need for an intervention of NATO to solve the PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) problem.
Rasmussen spoke to the reporters on the eve of the meeting of Foreign and Defence Ministers of the NATO members about Turkey and the PKK.
He said that he believes Turkey can solve the PKK problem by itself. He regarded the PKK as Turkish internal issue in no needs of NATO’s intervention. “I hope we will see the end of the terror attacks in the near future,” he said. .
