SENA,Eastern Kurdistan–31 years ago, after the emergence of the Islamic ruling state, which was led by the ideological and spiritual leader Khomeini, all the Iranian nations were on the view that a just government will be established by the new regime. The Iranian nations which revolted against the totalitarian regime of Shah in 1979 were aimed to establish democratic society that all Iranian nations directly participate in decision making.
However, the notions of the clerics were flatly contrary to what the Iranian nations were aiming for. As soon as the clerics secured their rulings and power, started to wipe out and eliminate all political and social perspectives which were contrary to the Khomeini’s Islamic ideology.
Khomeini’s initial oppressing policy was toward the Kurds. On 18/08/1979 Khomeini declared Jihad against the Kurds, which was resulted in mass killings of the Kurdish people. Soon after the mass killings in Pawa which was committed by the Khomeini’s selected loyal committee, the Iranian revolutionary guards on 27 August 1979 attacked Sena city in Eastern Kurdistan and committed further barbaric mass killings.

It is of great importance to highlight that the Khomeini’s jihad declaration is still in practice in Eastern Kurdistan; however, it is performed in different ways. Jihad in Khomeini’s view can take different form against the people who are considered unbelievers by the regimes clerics. Kurdish nation in Eastern Kurdistan regarded as enemies of “God” by the Khomeini, therefore, Eastern Kurdistan turned to battle field and thousands of the Kurdish innocent civilians including children, elderly men and women.
