Dersim- Northern Kurdistan- Ten of thousands of Kurdish people including intellectuals, artists, human rights campaigners and union representatives demonstrated in Dersim to call for peace as the attacks by Turkish army is increasing. They demanded an end to military operations and they protested against the upstream dams which would destroy the environment.
Among people who joined the demonstration were, Şerafettin Halis MP, KESK General president Sami Evren, Dersim mayor Edibe Şahin, Ferhat Tunç, Suvai, Hasan Sağlam, writer Ertuğrul Kürkçü and many other artists, intellectuals, citizens from Diyarbakır, Mardin, Erzincan, Elazığ, Adıyaman
In a written declaration issued by intellectuals it was stated that “military operations will destroy the hopes for democratic solutions after a short period of expectations for the possible beginning of negotiations to solve the Kurdish issue which is an issue going back to 90 years, along with Turkish republic history”.
