Silopi- Northern Kurdistan: Tens of thousands of Kurdish people marched through the city of Silopi to protest against the Turkish new waves of military operations in Kurdistan. The Turkish police reacted strongly against the march and used water canon and tear gas to disperse the population.
The Turkish armoured vehicle crushed a 14 year old Kurdish girl named Firat Bason to death. The Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Deputy Chairman Bengi Yıldız said that the Turkish government is responsible for the attack.
Yıldız said; “We want to ask the president; who murdered Fırat Basan? Israeli soldiers? Turkish security forces? Was that child killed in Gaza or Şırnak? Who kills our children on the streets and our young people at the universities and in police station?”
Yıldız held a press conference at TBMM (Grand National Assembly of Turkey) concerning the attack in Silopi and said; “Turkey must firstly see its own Palestine, its own Gaza.”
Yıldız emphasized that the event in Silopi yesterday and the state terror against civil public and parliament members are a sign of the effort to pull Turkey in a dark process and added; “The experience of yesterday is obviously a state terror. Before the march, our MPs Sevahir Bayındır, Hasip Kaplan and Hamit Geylani held talks with security authorities and the district governor and informed them about the march.
The MPs and mayors were at the front of the march when security forces claimed the march had not been authorized and attacked the mass incomprehensibly with water cannons, gas bombs and batons. Beside our representatives, many civil people were injured during the attack. Security powers made a blockade around the city and closed the ways to hospital for injured demonstrators. All these were lived under the responsibility and order of local authorities.”
