Turkish soldier threw grenade at Kurdish children

Van- Northern Kurdistan (Turkey): An eyewitness said that the explosion in the Kurdish city of Van on Tuesday 25th May was caused by a soldier who threw a hand grenade at playing children. The mayor of Van, Murat Durmaz, spoke to Firat News Agency and said that an eyewitness to the incident has given his account of what happened to the police.

The eyewitness has said that in fact the children who were playing next to the army base polygon did not actually found the bomb. According to the eyewitness a soldier has thrown the hand grenade where children were playing with a ball and then, the witness said, he escaped. After giving his statement to the police at the scene of the incident, the eyewitness has gone to the magistrate.

As the result of grenade explosion a 13 years old child who lost his life and five children between the age of 9 and 13 were badly injured. Three of them are said to be in serious conditions.
