Four Kurdish guerrillas have lost their lives after yesterday’s offensive by Turkish war planes. The Turkish army bombed the regions of Xekurke and Xinere twice, yesterday, while today the same regions have been bombed by the Iranian army.
According to a press release by the HPG (Kurdish Defence Forces) press Liaison centre (BIM), four guerrillas have lost their lives as a result of the Turkish raids. “On May 20th – reads the statement – between 2 and 7.45pm the areas of Xakurkê, Şehit Beritan, Şekif, Lelikan, Gundê Cennetê and Xinerê came under heavy attack by Turkish war planes. As a result of these raids, four of our comrades have lost their lives”.
The Kurdistan Worker Party (PKK) has long called on Turkey to halt their military operations and engage in dialogue with the Kurdish side to find a peaceful solution to the Kurdish issue in a war-torn country. The PKK declared unilateral ceasefire in March 2009 and protracted it four times to open doors for a democratic solution to the Kurdish problem. In 2009 the PKK also sent two peaces groups to Turkey to push through the jammed political procedures. But the Turkish Authorities are adamant in their classical policies of denial and the eradication of the Kurds within which they have continued military operations in Kurdistan.
