23 Anniversary of Chemical Bombardment of Goktepe

110710075205GOKTEPE, South Kurdistan, — Today is the 23th anniversary of the chemical bombardment of Goktepe village in which over thousands of civilian Kurds were gassed by former Iraqi regime.

The occupying powers of Kurdistan have employed all sorts of inhuman methods to wipe the Kurds out of history. On 3 May 1983 the Iraqi Baath Regime attacked Goktepe village with the chemical weapons killing over thousands of civilian Kurds.

The only ‘crime’ the Kurds have committed is that they have their own distinct identity, history and culture; a fact which has not been tolerated by the occupying powers of Kurdistan.

The Kurdish history of resistance has well exposed the fact that the Kurds have not submitted to colonialism and they are not prepared to do so.

The Kurds will always remember those who sacrificed their lives for the freedom and dignity of their nation.
