Twelve days into the Iran–Israel conflict, Iran has intensified attacks on the bases of Iranian Kurdish parties in the Kurdistan Region.
At least three Kurdish fighters have been killed since the start of the conflict:
– Omid Veysi (Omid Ravansar), a Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan member, was killed in a drone strike on Zirgwezala, Sulaymaniyah (11-03-2026)
– Ismail Rahimi (Ako), a Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan member, was killed in a drone/rocket attack in Zrgwez, Sulaymaniyah (07-03-2026)
– Jalal Rashid (Kawan), a PAK member, was killed in an Iranian drone strike on Degala, east of Erbil (04-03-2026)
Several others were injured. Last month, another Komala member, Saeed Ranjbar (Hirsh) (18-02-2026), was also killed in a suspicious incident possibly linked to Iran.
Drone and missile strikes have targeted the following six parties:
– Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI)
– Komala Party of Kurdistan (led by Reza Kaabi)
– Khabat Organization of Iranian Kurdistan
– Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK)
– Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan (led by Abdullah Mohtadi)
– Komala, Kurdistan Organization of the Communist Party of Iran (led by Ebrahim Alizadeh)
All of these parties have not carried out military operations against Iran in recent years and mainly operate as political refugees in Iraq.
The Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK) has no bases in Iraqi Kurdistan. Its forces are mostly inside Iranian Kurdistan or in the mountainous border regions, where they use tunnels and defensive positions to protect against missile and drone attacks.
