Peyman Viyan: ‘The New Coalition of Iranian Kurdish Parties Emphasises Political Unity and a Democratic Solution’

In an interview with The New Region, Peyman Viyan — one of the five signatories at the official ceremony announcing the formation of the coalition — explained its goals. The coalition unites five political groups, including the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK).

Viyan explained that the coalition was formed to improve political coordination among the parties, unify their positions and establish a stronger, more unified voice for Kurdish political movements in Iran.

According to Viyan, the coalition seeks a democratic and peaceful solution to the Kurdish issue in Iran. He stressed the importance of protecting the political, civil and cultural rights of the Kurdish people, emphasising that the alliance is committed to independent decision-making and is not influenced by external actors.

Viyan also emphasised that the coalition supports dialogue and political engagement as the primary path forward. He stated that their ultimate goal is to achieve democratic self-governance for Kurds within a democratic and pluralistic Iran based on mutual respect, equality and the recognition of rights.
