As preparations for the demonstration to say “end killing border traders” continue in Eastern Kurdistan’s Merîwan, the Iranian regime declared a curfew in the city.
Human rights organizations in Rojhelat (Eastern Kurdistan) wanted to hold a demonstration in front of the Merîwan Governorate against the killing of people dealing with border trade.
The Iranian regime declared State of Emergency in the area and banned entry to and exit from the city.
The Iranian state forces closed off all street entrances and exits, and shut down all telephone and internet networks in the region.
There are reports that the Merîwan Governorate building has been closed off since yesterday and nobody other than security forces are allowed near it.
The people in the border region deal with border trade to make a living because of the economic hardship they endure.
