According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), officials from the Kirmaşan (Kermanshah) women prison have transferred the Kurdish political prisoner Zeyneb Celaliyan to the prison infirmary to treat her eye disease while she still was in handcuffs and shackles and treated in humiliating manners.
Six months ago the women’s ward of Dizel Abad Prison in Kirmaşan was transferred to the Correction and Rehabilitation Center where juvenile prisoners under 18 are kept. This place is about 5km away from the Dizel Abad Prison, so juvenile and women prisoners will have to be transferred to the clinic by car.
An informed source told HRANA: “A while ago, prison authorities imposed a crackdown against Zeyneb Celaliyan. Among others, they have cut the phone lines of the prison and told other inmates that the phone lines of the ward were cut as a result of measures for Zeyneb Celaliyan. Prison officials want to provoke the wrath of prisoners against her, which is why they harassed Celaliyan”.
The source notes that, “The Infirmary agents ignored the serious problems Zeyneb Celaliyan have with her eyes and just give her an eye drop, which has not improved her situation”.
Zeyneb Celaliyan was arrested by the Kirmaşan intelligence forces in 2007. Initially she was sentenced to death by the Enghelab Court, but the death penalty later were commuted to life imprisonment.
