Iranian Security Forces Killed and Injured Four Kurdish Kolbers

Pasdar-Kolber

A Kurdish Kolber, from Kani Miran village, shot and injured around the city of Meriwan by Iranian security forces. Also, in the city of Piranshar Iranian security forces massacred horses of Kurdish Kolbars, and burned their goods.

According to the local sources, on June 20, Meriwan Kamran, a Kurdish kolber, (people who carry goods across the border on their back), was severely injured by Iranian security forces in Bashmax border.

This person that had earning by dealing goods in border areas of Eastern Kurdistan was transferred to the Bu Ali hospital of Meriwan for treatment.

Also, on 19 June, Iranian security forces fired at a civilian car in the city of Serdesht in Eastern Kurdistan. One people killed and two other injured in this attack.

On the other hand, in the city of Piranshar in Eastern Kurdistan, Iranian army ambushed a group of Kolbers, killed 10 horses and burned their goods.

This attack occurred between the villages of Dlze and Gizgesk. It was said that Iranian forces burned several horses alive.

In addition, some reports say that Iranian plain clothes are threatening the villagers of this area.

Iranian forces justify these crimes by fighting against smuggling of goods. Every year tens of Kurdish civilians are being killed in the border areas of Eastern Kurdistan in these attacks.

Despite numerous condemnations by regional and International human rights organizations Iranian security forces still continue the killings of innocent Kurds in border areas of Eastern Kurdistan.

Ahmed Shaheed, the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in Iran in his report in March 2012, for the first time expressed his concern about the systematic killing of Kolbars (back carriers) and condemned these extrajudicial killings.

Kurdish Kolbers – only for earning their livelihood – have to involve in black market in border areas and they are killed by Iranian security forces. As the result, the women would become widows and children would become orphans. While all the amount of exchanges of goods in border areas by Kolbers is not equivalent to the only one shipment of smuggled goods by corrupt tycoons in private wharfs.
