#TwitterKurds will be holding a last and final mass Tweet on the Kurdish Question in Turkey next Friday 10th June 2011.
#TwitterKurds has exploded onto the social media networks and has seen hundreds of pro Kurdish activists tweeting on the Kurdish Question in Turkey worldwide and in many different languages.
Social media has been an important element in the Jasmine revolutions around the Middle East and North Africa and can be an important tool in connecting Kurdish activists in Turkey and Kurdistan to the outside world. It can also help pro Kurdish activists to raise awareness and support of the Kurdish issue in Turkey and challenge the misinformation of the Turkish state.
One of the organisers of the mass tweets at #TwitterKurds, Hevallo, told ANF. “#TwitterKurds has begun a conversation about the importance of social media in the Kurdish Spring! Twitter especially, is a fantastic tool to get around the psychological misinformation and silence of the suppression of the Kurdish Freedom Struggle”, he said.
“I urge any Kurdish and non Kurdish activists who are campaigning on the Kurdish issue to join the ‘online Kurdish revolution’ and join us for our last Mass Tweet on Friday 10th June 2011”, he added.
#TwitterKurds is now established online! After the last ‘mass tweet on Friday, #TwitterKurds will continue to tweet daily to raise awareness and support for the Kurdish Freedom Struggle in Turkey!
